NSXPO 2003 - Day 1

First stop was RPM indoor karting in Sacramento. I counted about 100 NSXs in the parking lot. The most I've ever seen at one time. I only managed to get one session in the kart, and it was pretty fun.

Next stop was at Comptech in El Dorado Hills. We got to see all the Comptech goodies and a number of engines they've worked on.

Because of construction on the freeway, there was a lot of concern about making it to dinner on time, so a few calls to the highway patrol and an escort was arranged. We had a 100-car long convoy from Sacramento to Napa. When we entered the freeway, the highway patrol had closed ALL lanes of I-50 so we could enter the freeway. For the entire trip, lane 1 was closed to traffic except for our convoy. Motorcycle police (Chips!) patrolled the length of the convoy and kept all other cars away. At one point I was doing 110 MPH with highway patrolman waving at me to catch up the cars in front of me. And I didn't go to jail!

We arrived in Napa Valley and had a wonderful dinner at the Napa Valley Grille.
